FAQs
What should I do if I think my child needs speech therapy?
We begin with a brief phone conversation to discuss your concerns and suspected areas of need. From there, it may be recommended to schedule an in-home screening or evaluation.
What does an evaluation consist of?
Speech and language evaluation is scheduled at your home or child’s school and typically includes a standardized assessment, clinical observations, and parental input to create a thorough profile of the child’s communication skills. A formal report is provided to you, and can be shared with other service providers and health professionals at your request.
What does a treatment session look like?
The structure of a treatment session differs for each child, and is dependent upon their individual learning styles and preferences. Most often, therapy for youngsters is play-based, and skill building is integrated into the activity they are engaging in. School-aged children typically participate in more structured tasks, and motivation is cultured through use of the child’s preferences, games and activites.
How Long will therapy take?
There is no one-size-fits-all plan for speech and language improvement, though the average treatment plan ranges from six to nine months. After that time period, we will review the plan of care, progress and goals, and together we will map out our next steps or celebrate your child’s mastery of their new skills.
Do you take insurance?
